Stocks rose after earnings from some of the largest U.S. companies, including
General Motors,
General Electric, and 3M, gave equities a boost. Reports from
Microsoft
and
Alphabet
are scheduled after markets close.
These stocks were making moves Tuesday:
General Electric
(GE) reported third-quarter earnings of 82 cents a share, beating Wall Street estimates of 56 cents. The company also raised full-year guidance and the stock was up 6.5%.
