Birchcliff Energy reported a fatality of a contractor at one of its water storage pits south of Baytree, Alberta.
The oil and natural gas company said it appears the contractor may have drowned though an investigation is ongoing. Emergency response personnel responded to the scene Tuesday evening, Birchcliff said.
The contractor’s family has been notified of the incident, Birchcliff said.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with them during this difficult time,” said Chief Executive Jeff Tonken.
